I’ve been thinking a lot about safe spaces — spaces where we are free to be ourselves, unapologetically. I’ll share some thoughts later but wanted to at least say this: In life’s tough periods, we can become our worst critic, echoing the negativity we’ve heard from others. We hide, we cry, we internalize. Even our bodies begin to turn against with crazy ailments and illnesses. Where did that rash come from, the chest pain, the headache, the stomach pain? The dis-ease we are feeling can sometimes be caused by the stress and negativity we are internalizing — whether it’s negativity from ourselves or others. And our body is trying to get rid of it in the best way it knows how. Sometimes with dire consequences.

Beloved, don’t believe the critics more than you believe IN yourself. Honor who you are. Don’t hide behind their words. Stand in your truth. Unapologetically. Your body is a temple. Trust yourself. You belong here.
